Hello, My name is Allan Schroeder, and I was asked by William to be a regular guest contributor to the Shutter Moment blog. I have a strong background in photography and journalism, and until the end of last year, worked as a professional photographer. I have photographed on 5 or the world’s 7 continents, and represented Getty Images, Wire Image, The Canadian Press, and the AFP. My images have appeared in Newspapers, Magazines, Books, and as artwork for private clients. I am a hardcore Nikon user, and I have pretty much owned, used or borrowed almost every modern lens and body they have produced since 1984. I’m happy to be a part of Shutter Moment, and look forward to helping out and contributing. If you wish to follow me on Twitter, you can do so here. Thank you.
So after weeks of nagging from David, we've finally managed to gather all the staff in Design Vetica, my interactive agency, together to do a photoshoot. Mainly, everyone just wanted to update their headshot for the team page. (above photo, from left to right, Kevin Lee, Johnathan Gee, Alex Gondek, David Kim) Or as I describe it. From left to right: Fashion designer, beach boy, russian hacker, and um, normal person? Somehow I managed the carry all my gears to our office. The plan is to shoot against a white wall so we don't have a background once we place the images on our site. Well, good luck to that plan. The shoot started off in the wrong direction (panic!). There was a open window with no blinds to cover the harsh sun light. The flare bounced off the wooden floor and cast a nasty green color in Kevin's glasses. I...
Read MoreRushing for the sunset to do a simple shoot for my friend, David (@devkim), for his online portfolio and social media avatar, I came back quickly from dinner. By the time we're out in the park, we almost had no light. I had to borrow my friend, Kevin, to do a little assistant work for me. I decided to drop a light stand in the middle of the field (screw shooting permits, it's too dark to see anyways). Simple 45 degree strobe shoot through umbrella, most-boring set up, made the shots below. It turned out to be quite mysterious. That and the sky and the not-able-to-pose, David, created something unique. Bonus: experimental shot, shot in complete darkness. The flash was fired through a bunch of stuff, mainly, a logo of our apartment. Who's idea was it to shoot in the park again? We were attacked by a bunch of mosquitos. So far, I've...
Read MoreThe undead walked the streets of Vancouver last Saturday. Police watched helplessly. The apocalypse was happening… Or maybe not. On August 15, thousands dressed up as zombies to walk the streets of Vancouver starting from the south side of Vancouver Art Gallery (did I mention that place was double booked?!). The madness continued when the zombies “attached” buses and tourist vehicles. More pictures after the jump.

StarTrek Zombies?!

Scary looking guy.

Huston. We got a problem. *over

I did mention they were attacking the buses right?
Hi all, as you can see. The old Shutter Moment is completely gone. Instead of a gallery of my pictures, this will now act as a blog mainly talking about photography. Within the next few weeks, you folks can see my photography portfolio at www.williamzhouphotography.com. I also hope to invite a few photogs as regular guest bloggers here.
